Getting Started To begin, participants will learn the basics of Word: how to open and close it, how to use the interface, how to use its toolbars, how to create a basic document, how to open and save documents, and how to get help.
Formatting and Editing Options Next, participants will learn more about working with text, including how to select it, move it, align and justify it, use tabs, change margin settings, and apply fonts and effects.
Formatting Tools This section will focus on paragraph formatting (such as line spacing and indents), adding page numbers, creating and using templates, checking for spelling, adding pictures, and creating hyperlinks.
Viewing and Printing Participants will learn about the different views and viewing tools available, including the new Reading Layout. Participants will also learn how to use Print Preview and Page Setup, and how to print a document.
Advanced Interface Options Participants will learn various file management tasks in this section, including how to use My Computer within Word and various ways to save their files. Participants will also learn about advanced window tools (including the new Side-by-Side view) and how to customize toolbars and menus.
Formatting Tools This section will begin by taking a deeper look at templates. Participants will also learn how to create lists, add headers and footers to their document, and format paragraphs (including adding borders and shading).
Customizing your Documents Participants will learn how to create, use, and manage styles. Participants will also learn about AutoText, the Format Painter, themes, and Smart Tags.
Using Tables This section will introduce participants to tables. We will learn how to create tables, edit them, and apply formatting.
Advanced Tools First, participants will learn how to add different types of breaks to their document. Then, we will look at some research tools, including the new Research Pane, AutoSummarize, and AutoCorrect. Next, we will examine the Microsoft Office Picture Manager and Microsoft Office Clip Organizer. Finally, we will learn how to create charts, sort table data, convert table data to plain text (and vice versa), and how to create an Excel spreadsheet in Word.
Sending a Document This section will focus on Word's mail merge feature. We will also learn how to e-mail and fax directly from Word.
Working with Graphics Participants will learn how to add pictures from a file, ClipArt, WordArt, diagrams, AutoShapes, embedded objects, and text boxes. Participants will also learn how to perform basic editing and formatting tasks on these objects.
Managing Documents This section will explore how to track changes; add comments; compare, merge, and protect documents; and use versions.
Creating Forms and Using Macros This section will explore how to record and code macros. We will also learn how to create a form in Word.
Creating Web Pages Believe it or not, Word 2003 can be used as a Web page development tool. We will explore just what it can do for Web pages in this section.
Managing Documents Participants will learn how to create an outline, a table of contents, footnotes and endnotes, bookmarks, cross-references, captions, indexes, and master and subdocuments.
Advanced Topics To conclude, participants will learn how to change Word's options; use Information Rights Management and Microsoft Office Document Imaging; install, configure, and use speech recognition; search for documents; and use Detect and Repair.
